The VOTER, October 2006, Volume 79, No. 2

The President's Message

If you read the list of Directors and appointed positions in the Voter each month, you’ll notice some changes this month, changes which took place at various times over the summer but about which it is more than time you were told.

First and foremost, you will recall that the Voters Service Director position was vacant after our elections in May. Happily, Kathi Wojtkowski answered the call and moved from Publicity Director to become our Voters Service Director.

That left the position of Publicity Director vacant. Happily, Barbara Bass Evans stepped up to fill this position and is our new Publicity Director, albeit in an off-board role.

The Bylaws require that two of the five members of the Nominating Committee be appointed by the Board. That happened in August, and Beverly Bean and Janet Brennan join those elected by you (Ruth Rachel, Jean Esary, and Phil Smith) on this important committee.

The Board also reappointed two other standing committees: Budget with Robert Priestley (Chair), Sylvia Shih, Sue Woodburn, and Financial Planning with Nancy Green (Chair), Anne McGowan, Dennis Mar, Robert Priestley, Sylvia Shih.

Finally, I’m sorry to tell you that Jeanne Melaugh, who has produced our award-winning Voter for the last several years, found it necessary to resign from that position. We will miss her input and the great job she did editing and preparing the Voter. Dennis Mar agreed to the daunting task of following Jeanne as Voter editor.

Thank you to all who willingly serve on the Board and on the various committees. I’m always impressed with the quality of work and the responce of our members when there are needs.

— Marilyn Maxner, President
