UPCOMING WEBSITE
We learned at the League of Women Voters of California 2003 Convention that Smart Voter is developing a companion website: www.GuideToGov.org. While Smart Voter provides information about candidates and election issues, GuideToGov will provide voters with information about their government agencies and officials from federal to special districts.
The project is ambitious. It aims to be a one-stop location for contact information (address, phone, e-mail, meeting times, agendas, minutes) about all agencies. The big question is updating. Can new information be added in a clever manner? Can a city council announce a meeting date change on the city's website and have the change automatically propagate to GuideToGov? Stay tuned.
