TITLE IX IS THREATENED

For three decades, the League of Women Voters has supported Title IX of the Education Act Amendments of 1972. Title IX is the federal law that prohibits gender discrimination in all aspects of education. But it is best known for creating opportunities for women and girls in athletics. We are deeply concerned about recent efforts to reverse the progress brought about by Title IX and we need your help! Call or email your Representative and Senators.

The following is a sample letter or email:

Title IX is responsible for vastly expanded educational opportunities in athletics for women. We oppose all efforts to undermine equal opportunity for women and girls in education. We urge you to support Title IX and to oppose any attempts to reverse the advances of the past three decades.
