WATER STUDY--UNIT MEETING CONSENSUS QUESTIONS

A Unit Study Meeting on our local water positon is scheduled for the end of March. Check the calendar for meeting details. The consensus questions that will be addressed at the Unit Study Meeting are:

  1. What are the important criteria that should be satisfied by an agency that is responsible for planning and implementing a water supply project? For example,
    • How important is it to require public input?
    • How important is it that the agency be directly accountable to local voters?
    • How important is it that the agency be local?
  2. Given these criteria, would the configuration of agencies matter? For example, would it be better to have one organization with the responsibility for water planning and implementation or multiple organizations?
  3. Should voter approval for water project funding be required?
  4. Should we support other priorities for water supply projects in addition to those included in the current LWVMP position?
