THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
     OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA

Our Mission Statement:

"The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization,
encourages informed and active participation in government,
works to increase understanding of major public policy issues,
and influences public policy through education and advocacy."

The League of Women Voters has two separate and distinct roles:

• Citizen Education / Voter Information: we present unbiased nonpartisan information
  about elections, the voting process, and issues. 
   
• Action / Advocacy: we are nonpartisan, but that does not mean that we are not political.
  After study, we use our positions to advocate for or against particular policies in the public interest.
  Based on our positions, we may also recommend positions on local or state propositions.

Our vision, beliefs, and intentions guide our activities, and we stick to our principles.
