The League of Women Voters of the Monterey Peninsula urges you to sign AB1xx (Jackson). Giving legislative appointees fixed terms addresses the specific and narrow concerns of the court.

The Coastal Commission is a valuable steward of California's treasured coastline. The commission has protected wetlands, coastal agricultural lands, and wildlife habitat; ensured equitable coastal access; overseen sustainable development of coastal communities; and restricted and regulated offshore oil and gas drilling. We believe that if the 1972 initiative were put before the voters today, a majority of Californians would again vote for the Coastal Commission.
